The 2022 ATFA Solid Recycled Floor of the year, was won by Wanaka Wood Floors for its work on this stunning cobble floor.

The floor was made from recycled hardwood beams formed into cobbles, for the authentic French look for the Domaine Thomson Wines cellar door.

Wanaka Wood Floors teamed up with Breen Construction on this project to complete this cobble floor, as well as the two herringbone floors with plank borders in the two adjacent rooms - the tasting room and library. The combination of the cobbles flanked by the parquet rooms makes a stunning aesthetic in this wine tasting hub.

From a record number of entries from timber flooring specialists in Australia and New Zealand, from 2019 to 2022, this floor was a favourite of many across all categories. The Australasian Timber Floor Association is the timber floor trade industry group across both countries.

This project also won the 2021 NZIA Southern Architecture Awards, sharing the Commercial Architecture win with two other local projects.

Wanaka Wood Floors specialise in bespoke wood floors, parquet, recycled and native timber floors. In Wanaka for over twenty years, they supply, install and refurbish site finished and prefinished engineered and solid timber floors.
